Update on the situation in Turkey and advice to Bulgarian citizens
11 June 2013The Foreign Ministry warns that the situation in Turkey’s large cities continues to be intense.
By 2pm on June 11 2013, the Republic of Bulgaria’s diplomatic missions in Turkey had no information that Bulgarian citizens had been injured or arrested.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly recommends that Bulgarian citizens currently in Turkey not take part in demonstrations and avoid the areas and the surroundings of Taksim Square in Istanbul, especially after 8pm, and in Ankara, the areas in the central Kizilay Square, Ataturk Square, Kuğulu and Güven parks and Tunala Street and all government buildings after 7pm.
If necessary, Bulgarian citizens can approach the Bulgarian diplomatic missions in Ankara, Istanbul, Edirne and Bursa for information and assistance.
