Meeting of the Permanent Secretary Svetlan Stoev with representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe
On 23 May 2024, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev received representatives of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The upcoming early elections for the National Assembly and the European Parliament on 9 June this year in the Republic of Bulgaria were discussed.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov and the Chairperson and Deputy Chairman of the Working Group ‘Elections’ in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Svetlan Stoev and Boryana Stoynova presented at a briefing today an update on the organization set up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the upcoming elections for the National Assembly and the European Parliament outside the country on 9 June.

During the talks, the two diplomats highlighted the excellent bilateral dialogue between the two countries, as well as the long-standing cultural ties between the Bulgarian and Czech people. They discussed the prospects for further deepening bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest such as economy and investment, tourism, security and defence, as well as cooperation within the EU and NATO.

The anniversary was marked with a solemn ceremony during the 133rd session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, on 16 and 17 May in Strasbourg, France.
