Bulgarian Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov took part in the informal meeting of the General Affairs Council, held in Budapest on 2—3 September 2024. The main topics of discussion at the Council were competitiveness, the rule of law through better lawmaking and tackling Europe's demographic challenges. Ministers focused on the following three areas to boost European competitiveness: A new industrial deal; Tackling demographic challenges and fostering innovation; Public and private finance.

They discussed the opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in a number of areas of mutual interest — energy, tourism, economy and culture.

Successful launch of a new National Visa Information System

According to the information received at the Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Thessaloniki from the Greek police, in the evening hours of 16 August, in a nightclub in the resort of Hanioti, a conflict broke out between a company of 7 Bulgarian citizens, the owner and the staff of the restaurant, which resulted in two people being shot and one with minor injuries. The wounded were admitted to the hospital of Polygyros.
