Foreign Affairs Council calls for immediate truce in Libya

Recent developments in Libya and the Sahel, the situation in Venezuela, and Iran’s decision to stop fulfilling part of its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action were in the focus of attention of the Foreign Affairs Council meeting which took place in Brussels today. Bulgaria was represented by its Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ekaterina Zaharieva.

On instructions from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to the Republic of Bulgaria Hasan Ulusoy was summoned to the MFA on Monday by Deyan Katrachev, Director of the South-Eastern Europe Directorate, to explain his statement made on May 11 of this year, calling upon the Bulgarian Government to promote the learning of Turkish as a foreign language as a precondition for the increase of Turkish investments in Bulgaria.

The Bulgarian Ambassador to Austria, Ivan Sirakov, took part in this year’s 74th ceremony of remembrance of the victims of Nazism who perished in the Austrian concentration camp complex of Mauthausen-Gusen.  The event is organized on May 5 of every year by the International Mauthausen Committee.
