Statement by the Spokesperson of the MFA on the escalation of the situation in Eastern Ukraine

We express our deep concern over the escalation of tensions in Eastern Ukraine and the refusal of the unlawful armed groups to respect the ceasefire in accordance with the commitments under the Minsk agreements. As a result of renewed hostilities there is a growing number of casualties, including civilians. We are worried that the latest serious incidents could jeopardize the future of the process of peaceful settlement of the crisis.
We urge all parties to the conflict to immediately cease hostilities and withdraw weapons as foreseen in the Minsk agreements, which would enable to convene the Contact Group for finding a political solution of the conflict.
