Ambassador Petko Doykov presented his credentials to the President of Bangladesh

Bulgarian Ambassador in Delhi Petko Doykov, who is also accredited to Bangladesh, presented his credentials to President Abdul Hamid. The ceremony took place on 12 January at Banga Bhaban official residence in Dhaka.

At the following meeting,  the Bulgarian side expressed desire for further development of the bilateral dialogue in all spheres of mutual interest. The 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Bangladesh, which was marked in 2012, was also mentioned during the talks. The discussion focused on specific initiatives for intensifying contacts, including a visit of the Bulgarian Foreign Minister in Dhaka and an establishment of closer Parliamentary ties.

President Hamid thanked for the delivered greetings from the Bulgarian head of state and expressed readiness to deepen the relations with Bulgaria. The fact that Bulgaria is among the first four countries to recognize the independence of Bangladesh was reaffirmed.
