Bulgaria wishes to help resolve the political crisis in Yemen

“Our wish, of Bulgaria and of the European Union, is to help resolve the serious political crisis in Yemen”, said Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nickolay Mladenov during the talks today in Sana. “Here live quite a few Bulgarians. The security in the region largely depends on what is happening here”, the minister added.
During the official talks with President Ali Saleh and Foreign Minister Abu al-Kirby, Nickolay Mladenov pointed out the need to immediately stop the violence and reach a compromise with the protesters. Thereafter, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister talked with representatives of the parties of the opposition block and of the protesting students, who are demanding an immediate withdrawal of President Saleh.
"The main demands of youth for fair elections and civil society participation in governance were also our demands at the beginning of transition," said Mladenov. He had committed to convey tomorrow to his colleagues, Foreign Ministers of EU, the demands for active role of the Union in Yemen.
