Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivanka Tasheva held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Bulgaria, Miguel Alonso Berrio. During the meeting, the long-standing constructive cooperation between Bulgaria and Spain was highlighted, both at the bilateral level and through their partnership on key issues on the European agenda, including cohesion policy, the Common Agricultural Policy, the Multiannual Financial Framework, and enlargement policy.
The two sides discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in areas such as energy, industry and transport, as well as prospects for deepening political dialogue at all levels, including through the holding of deputy minister-level consultations in Sofia at the earliest opportunity. The meeting also underscored the importance of the Bulgarian community in Spain for the development of the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.
Deputy Minister Tasheva expressed gratitude for Spain’s consistent support for Bulgaria’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which remains one of the country’s key foreign policy priorities.
