Deputy Minister Polendakov talks with the Ambassador of Armenia to Bulgaria Tsovinar Hambartsumyan
08 June 2026 NewsDeputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Christo Polendakov held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Bulgaria, Tsovinar Hambardzumyan.
The Deputy Minister conveyed his congratulations on the successful organisation and conduct of the parliamentary elections held in Armenia on Sunday, 7 June. During the meeting, he spoke highly of Bulgaria’s bilateral relations with Armenia. In his words, these relations are founded on the long-standing historical and cultural ties between the two peoples and were recently elevated through the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed on 3 May this year by Vice President Iliana Iotova and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Christo Polendakov noted that Bulgaria values Armenia’s continued commitment to European values and democratic reforms, despite the unstable security environment and the complex regional and geopolitical context. He also reaffirmed Bulgaria’s readiness to share its experience and expertise.
During their talks, the two interlocutors reviewed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation across a number of areas of mutual interest. Key topics included strengthening trade and economic relations, Armenia’s participation in regional energy and transport connectivity projects, innovation, and opportunities to encourage investment. They also discussed ways of combining efforts to restore direct air links between the two countries.
