Minister Velislava Petrova Meets with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann

Minister Velislava Petrova met with Secretary-General Mathias Cormann of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) during the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris.
During the meeting, Bulgaria’s top diplomat underlined that the country’s membership in the OECD remains a key foreign policy priority of the new Bulgarian Government, which has committed itself to completing the technical phase of the accession process as swiftly as possible. “We highly value the close, positive and constructive cooperation with the OECD Secretariat throughout the accession negotiations process,” Minister Petrova stated.
For his part, Mathias Cormann reaffirmed his personal commitment to the Organisation’s enlargement process. He noted that Bulgaria remains well positioned to complete the technical phase of its accession process within the current year.
Minister Petrova and Secretary-General Cormann confirmed their shared assessment that Bulgaria’s accession to the OECD would be mutually beneficial and expressed their readiness to continue their close cooperation with a view to bringing the process to a successful conclusion.
