The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nadezhda Neynski, took part in a working dinner in Brussels yesterday, organised by the Republic of Croatia in its capacity as Chair of the Three Seas Initiative for 2026. The event was attended by representatives of participating states and partner countries of the Initiative for the exchange of views on the development of transport, energy and digital connectivity along the European North – South axis linking the Baltic, Black and Adriatic Seas.
During the discussions, Minister Neynski welcomed the priorities of the Croatian Presidency aimed at strengthening transport, energy and digital connectivity within the Initiative. She emphasised that, in the current geopolitical environment, reinforcing the North – South axis and diversifying energy supplies are of paramount importance. “In this context, the Black Sea region is acquiring additional strategic significance, and we remain committed to accelerating the implementation of key infrastructure projects,” Minister Neynski stated to those present.
The need to increase investment in infrastructure and to enhance military mobility was highlighted, given its importance for strengthening NATO’s eastern flank. The Minister also underscored the importance of completing Corridor VIII as a key link between the Black Sea and the Adriatic Sea, as well as a vital element in developing new logistical routes to and from Ukraine. In this context, the growing significance of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor for connectivity between Europe and Asia was also noted.
Minister Neynski further emphasised Bulgaria’s role in advancing regional connectivity through its strong IT sector, favourable environment for technology companies, capabilities in the field of cybersecurity, and suitable conditions for testing services based on artificial intelligence.
During the dinner, the key role of the transatlantic partnership for the development of the Initiative was also reaffirmed. Bulgaria highly values the commitment of the United States of America, noting that continued cooperation in infrastructure, energy, innovation and new technologies will contribute to further strengthening the Initiative and delivering tangible benefits for the region.
The working dinner took place in the context of preparations for the forthcoming Summit of the Initiative, which will be held at the end of April in Dubrovnik and will outline the strategic priorities for the development of the Three Seas Initiative in the years ahead.
