Minister Nadezhda Neynsky Holds Telephone Conversations with the Foreign Ministers of Israel, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar and Lebanon

 Minister Neynsky held telephone conversations with Gideon Sa’ar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel; Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait; Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar; and Youssef Rajji, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lebanese Republic.

Minister Neynsky discussed with her counterparts the current situation with regard to the conflict involving Iran and the developments in the Middle East region.

In the context of the security of Bulgarian citizens, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, Gideon Sa’ar, assured Bulgaria’s top diplomat that the Israeli Government stands ready to assist, if necessary, with the return to Bulgaria of Bulgarian citizens currently staying in the country for short-term visits.

During the conversations, Bulgaria’s top diplomat expressed full solidarity with Kuwait and the Kuwaiti people in connection with the Iranian attacks against targets in the country, which constitute a serious violation of Kuwait’s sovereignty. For his part, Minister Al-Sabah declared his full commitment to ensuring the security of Bulgarian citizens present on the territory of the country, as well as his readiness to provide assistance in the event of an escalation of tensions.

In her conversation with Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Minister Neynsky expressed solidarity with the Jordanian side during this critical period for the region. The two agreed that Iran should cease strikes against neighbouring states and work towards de-escalation of tensions. Emphasis was also placed on the need to ensure that the current crisis does not divert attention from the situation in Gaza and from the implementation of the second phase of the Comprehensive Plan for Ending the Conflict in Gaza.

Minister Neynsky also held a conversation with Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. The Bulgarian Foreign Minister strongly condemned the attacks carried out by the Iranian regime against Qatar and stated that these actions violate the country’s sovereignty. The two agreed on the need to work towards an urgent de-escalation of tensions in the region.

In her conversation with Youssef Rajji, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lebanese Republic, the situation in the region was also discussed. The two sides agreed on the need to de-escalate tensions and ensure lasting stability. Minister Neynsky reaffirmed Bulgaria’s support for the efforts of the Lebanese authorities to stabilise Lebanon and to guarantee the State’s monopoly over all weapons in the country.
