Mr Todor Stoyanov, Director – General of the Directorate – General for Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received today a delegation from the Kingdom of Thailand led by Ms Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. The meeting took place in implementation of the Memorandum on Political Consultations and Cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
During the discussions, both sides assessed positively the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Thailand and expressed their readiness to further expand and deepen them, both through political dialogue and in areas such as trade, investment, tourism, education and other fields of mutual interest. Among the concrete proposals considered for strengthening the relationship were the establishment of an intergovernmental joint commission for economic cooperation, raising awareness among business communities about opportunities to participate in specialised exhibitions and trade fairs, intensifying academic and scientific exchanges, and other areas.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of cooperation between Bulgaria and Thailand within multilateral frameworks, including the United Nations, as well as the significance of EU–Thailand relations, and other.
