Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev Meets with the Newly Appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Bulgaria, H.E. Ms Marie Dumoulin

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, received in a protocol meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria, Her Excellency Ms Marie Dumoulin.

During the conversation, both sides expressed satisfaction with the excellent state of relations between Bulgaria and France, as well as their readiness to further strengthen and expand cooperation across a broad range of areas. They noted the progress made in the process of coordinating the new Roadmap to the 2008 Bulgaria – France Strategic Partnership Agreement and expressed expectations for its signing in the near future.

Minister Georgiev highlighted France’s role as a strategic partner of Bulgaria within the European Union, NATO and other international organisations.

The two diplomats discussed recent developments on the European and international agenda, noting the convergence of their positions on a number of issues, including the war in Ukraine and the crucial importance of the Black Sea region as part of overall European security.

In the context of the EU enlargement process, which is a priority for both Bulgaria and France, the two sides discussed the degree of progress of individual candidate countries, reaffirming their support for the European consensus reached in 2022 regarding the Republic of North Macedonia.

Minister Georgiev wished Ambassador Dumoulin a successful and fruitful diplomatic mission in Bulgaria.
