Bulgaria welcomes the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas which could be the first step towards lasting peace and security in the region.
We commend President Trump’s leadership and active engagement in this complex process, and highly appreciate the mediation efforts of Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye, emphasizing that diplomacy is the only way forward.
It is of utmost importance that the first phase of the Gaza peace plan is implemented without delay, which would bring relief to the families of the hostages and would alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza. Our thoughts are with the hostages and their families, including with the families of the Bulgarian citizens Matan Angrest and Sahar Baruch.
Bulgaria remains committed to the efforts for achieving sustainable and peaceful resolution of the conflict in the Middle East.
We look with optimism toward a brighter future for the Middle East region, including the stabilization of Gaza and the well-being of its people, with governance free from any Hamas involvement.
