Deputy Minister Nikolay Pavlov Chairs Meeting of the Inter-Institutional Coordination Mechanism on Bulgaria’s Accession to the OECD

19 September 2025 News

On 18 September 2025, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister Nikolay Pavlov, a regular meeting of the Inter-Institutional Coordination Mechanism /ICM/ on Bulgaria’s accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was held.

The meeting reviewed progress in the accession process and preparations for the forthcoming technical reviews scheduled in the coming months. Discussions focused on approaches to implementing the OECD’s key recommendations in those committees where reviews are still ongoing, as well as on the indicative timeline for their completion within the respective committees or working groups.

The participants also held an exchange of views on the organisation of Bulgaria’s membership in the OECD following the conclusion of the accession process.

Deputy Minister Pavlov expressed his appreciation to the Bulgarian institutions involved for their sustained efforts and active participation in the accession dialogue, emphasising the crucial role of the public administration in realising the political ambition of achieving full OECD membership by 2026. Mr Pavlov called for strengthened mobilisation of ministerial efforts – through close inter-agency coordination and active communication and dialogue with the OECD Secretariat – in order to complete the technical reviews in all OECD committees and working groups by the end of this year, or at the very latest, at the beginning of next year.
