Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Georg Georgiev, held a meeting at the Ministry with the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the Republic of Bulgaria, Her Excellency Ms Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet.
Minister Georgiev reaffirmed to Ambassador Nguyen the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue supporting the advancement of the long-standing friendly relations between Bulgaria and Viet Nam across all areas of mutual interest.
In the course of the talks, both sides highlighted the importance of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, to be marked in 2025. They expressed a shared determination to build upon existing bilateral cooperation in traditional fields such as education, culture and science, while also expanding into promising new areas, including innovation, the green transition, and others.
Minister Georgiev and Ambassador Nguyen discussed the exchange of high-level visits as an important instrument for further strengthening cooperation between Bulgaria and Viet Nam .
The meeting also emphasised the significance of the ties within the EU–Viet Nam dialogue, the EU–ASEAN Strategic Partnership, and other multilateral formats.
