Participation of Minister Georgiev in the Presentation of the Priorities of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, took part in today’s event organised by PanEuropa Bulgaria and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event presented the main priorities of the Danish Presidency for the next six months, united under the motto “A Strong Europe in a Changing World.”
During the discussion, Minister Georgiev emphasised the various dimensions and instruments available to the EU in its efforts to build a stronger Europe amid changing geopolitical circumstances. “In times of shared uncertainty, we must find the way forward together, united by a common goal – peace. Peace will no longer be a given; we will have to fight for it,” Minister Georgiev stated in his address. He also spoke about the importance of innovation and technology in securing a competitive advantage in the fields of defence, science, education, energy, tourism, agriculture, and more. In the context of the ongoing EU discussions on regulatory simplification, the Bulgarian Foreign Minister expressed support for efforts to reduce the administrative burden on citizens and businesses, thereby creating opportunities for increased investment.
The forum was also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Nikolay Pavlov, who in his remarks placed emphasis on continued support for Ukraine, EU enlargement based on the principle of individual merit, energy security, cohesion policy, and the need for economic and social convergence.
