Informal meeting of the Ministers for European Affairs of the Member States of the European Union

Deputy Minister Elena Shekerletova took part today in Warsaw in the informal meeting of the Ministers for European Affairs of the Member States of the European Union.
The main purpose of the discussion was an initial exchange of views on the future Multiannual Financial Framework of the EU (2028-2034). The topic was discussed in the context of old and new challenges requiring comprehensive solutions. As key priorities for the future multiannual budget, Bulgaria highlighted Cohesion Policy, the Common Agricultural Policy and effective border management. In view of the changed global political situation, Bulgaria also stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in the field of defence and security at EU level.
The ministers also exchanged views on hybrid threats and counteraction options, with the countries of the EU enlargement process also taking part in the discussion. The topic "Strengthening Europe's civil and military preparedness and readiness" was also discussed, focusing on the role of civil society in building EU preparedness and resilience.
Within the framework of the forum, Deputy Minister Shekerletova held a bilateral meeting with the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Kristina Gerasimov. The important role of the large Bulgarian community in the Republic of Moldova for the development of bilateral relations was emphasised and Bulgaria's support for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova was declared. Deputy Minister Shekerletova expressed confidence that the principles and values of the European Union will contribute to the further deepening of cooperation between the two countries and will strengthen the role of the Bulgarian community in Moldovan society. Elena Shekerletova also met with the State Secretary for European Affairs of Spain, Fernando Sampedro, with whom she discussed issues on the EU agenda.
