Ivan Kondov honoured the Ambassador of Georgia with the Golden Laurel Branch

At an official ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria Ivan Kondov honoured the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Bulgaria H. E. Mr. Otar Berdzenishvili, with the highest award of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria — ‘Golden Laurel Branch’. The high award was presented to Ambassador Berdzenishvili on the occasion of his final departure from the country, as well as in appreciation for his efforts and personal contribution to the development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and Georgia, for his professional qualities and active diplomatic activity during his tenure in our country, as well as for his consistent advocacy of Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic path.

The ceremony at the MFA was attended by many foreign ambassadors accredited in Bulgaria, the leadership of the MFA and Bulgarian diplomats.

In his speech, Minister Kondov pointed out that during the short but extremely fruitful term of Ambassador Berdzenishvili, the Bulgarian-Georgian relations have entered a qualitatively new stage, marked by an accelerated dynamics of high-level exchange visits, as well as fruitful cooperation in various sectoral areas, especially in the field of connectivity. Minister Kondov also stressed that the basis of the intensive interaction between Bulgaria and Georgia so far is undoubtedly the consistent and active support of the Bulgarian side for Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic perspective, as well as its firm position in support of Georgia's territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

Ambassador Berdzenishvili thanked for the high distinction and stressed that it is a sign of the successful stage of bilateral cooperation that Bulgaria and Georgia have passed through and expressed his personal satisfaction that it is the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry that honours him with this high honour. Thanking for Bulgaria's consistent support for the European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of the Georgian society, he noted that in Bulgaria he had met a warm welcome, consensus and had created true and long-lasting friendships.
