Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov met today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Assistant Secretary for International Affairs of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Adam Hunter.
They discussed Bulgaria’s progress in meeting the criteria for joining the U.S. Visa Waiver Program (VWP). The necessary steps that all countries must take to gain access to the program, as stipulated in the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, were also discussed.
Assistant Secretary Adam Hunter congratulated the Bulgarian side for the significant progress in meeting the criteria for membership in the Programme and for the efforts to strengthen bilateral security cooperation. They both noted that the visa refusal rate has significantly decreased, with official data to be presented soon.
The two sides agreed to continue working together to achieve the common goal in the context of the upward development of relations with the U.S. and their strategic nature.
