The first art graffiti of the MFA street art competition "Bulgaria - more beautiful in NATO" was unveiled
07 November 2024 NewsThe first of the five art graffiti awarded in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' street art competition "Bulgaria - More Beautiful in NATO" - part of the National Programme of Initiatives to celebrate in 2024 the 20th anniversary of Bulgaria's NATO membership - was unveiled at a ceremony in Blagoevgrad today. The work, created by the talented artists from the graffiti studio "The Graffs", was realized in partnership with the Municipality of Blagoevgrad.
The Director of the Strategic Communications and Public Diplomacy Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Eleonora Dimitrova, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ivan Kondov. "Through graffiti art we hope to attract the attention of young people in particular, to awaken their curiosity about little-known topics and aspects of NATO's work and to enrich their knowledge about the benefits for Bulgaria of membership in the organisation," Kondov's address said. "I hope that with the way the talented artists from The Graffs graffiti studio have portrayed some of the Alliance's values, we will be able to provoke questions in young people, questions that I believe they will seek answers to by sifting untruth and misleading information from facts and objective circumstances," he added.
In his address, Ivan Kondov stresses that objectivity today obliges us to state loudly that by joining two decades ago this community of states united by the principles of collective defence and cooperation, Bulgaria has not only raised its prestige on the international stage and opened the way to the European Union, but has also firmly chosen the civilisational path of democratic communities, expressing its desire to be part of a world in which the joint efforts of individual states guarantee peace and stability for each of them.
Ivan Kondov concludes his address with the wish that this project will be the contribution of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the spiritual, social and cultural life of Blagoevgrad and will inspire young people, residents and guests of the city with a message of unity and peace.
The event was attended by the Regional Governor Georgi Dinev, Deputy Mayor for Culture, Sports and Tourism Stanislav Kimchev , Ambassador of Poland to Bulgaria H.E. Maciej Szymański, as well as students, youth organizations, academics, residents and guests.
