Deputy Minister Nevyana Miteva participates in the International Conference on Building Cooperation and Cohesion for the Advancement of Women, Peace and Security in Manila, Philippines
04 November 2024 NewsDeputy Minister Nevyana Miteva participated in the International Conference on "Building Cooperation and Cohesion for the Advancement of Women, Peace and Security". The conference was hosted by the Republic of the Philippines. The forum was organised in partnership with UN Women, the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation and the Philippine Centre for Islam and Democracy.
The conference is among the particularly significant events for the UN as it launches the commemorations of the XXVth anniversary of the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325. The main objective of the forum was to serve as a platform for an international review of the implementation of the UN Agenda on Women, Peace and Security.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and the Philippines was signed on the sidelines of the conference to establish a Centre of Excellence for Women, Peace and Security. The Centre will provide a space for experts and stakeholders to share best practices and conduct regular exchanges on peace and security issues.
The conference concluded with a formal signing ceremony of a final political declaration. With the Pasay Declaration, participating States reaffirmed their commitment to the full implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda through joint efforts and concrete actions.
In the framework of the visit, Deputy Minister Miteva held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, the Director General for Migration Policies and the Director for Bilateral Relations with Central European Countries on issues of mutual interest.
