Marin Raykov: Economic relations between Bulgaria and Japan have great potential

23 April 2013 News

“Economic relations between Bulgaria and Japan have great potential,” Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Marin Raykov said at a meeting today with the Ambassador of Japan, Takashi Koizumi.

Discussions focused on trade and economic relations between the two countries, opportunities for expansion of Japanese investments in Bulgarian industry and the development of cultural and educational co-operation.

“The forthcoming construction of Sofia Tech Park is a great opportunity and environment to attract Japanese investment in high technology. Bulgaria is the eastern gateway to the European Union and that is a strong factor for the development of economy, trade and tourism between the two countries,” Marin Raykov said.

Ambassador Koizumi emphasised the good co-operation and the successful development of two Japanese investments in the motor vehicle industry in Shoumen and Yambol. He also highlighted the excellent and traditional links in academic exchange and research.
