05 March 2024 News

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel and Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov signed an Agreement on cooperation for specialized training and preparation of the heads of the Trade and Economic Affairs Offices (STIV) of the Bulgarian missions abroad.

‘We are sending a message of interaction, coordination and common goals for Bulgaria's foreign policy and trade and economic relations. The agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy and Industry is a sign that in order to achieve the country's foreign policy priorities, the expertise of the commercial and economic attachés is key. Together we can shape the solutions of the future’, Mariya Gabriel said.

This first-of-its-kind agreement, signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy and Industry, aims to synchronize Bulgaria's strategic priorities in foreign policy and the activities of the STIV with the country's overseas missions. The agreement focuses on the regular delivery of specialised training courses in economic diplomacy for staff and the development of an expert handbook with practical guidance. The aim is to increase knowledge of national and international mechanisms for the development of economic cooperation and the application of diplomatic skills in practice.

‘Together, let us make sure that economic diplomacy contributes to Bulgaria actively defending its strengths and bringing benefits to its citizens’, Deputy Prime Minister Mariya Gabriel concluded.
