William Hague congratulated Prime Minister Marin Raykov on his appointment

We will honour our commitment to the free movement of labour, UK Foreign Secretary says in a letter

"The United Kingdom will honour its obligations under the Treaty of Accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the EU and will suspend transitional controls on the free movement of labour of Bulgarian citizens by the end of this year." This was made clear in a letter of congratulations from British Foreign Secretary William Hague to Bulgarian Prime Minister Marin Raykov regarding his appointment as Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the caretaker government.

"The British Government is working to prevent siphoning of social funds and tourism with the goal of exploiting social assistance. This, however, applies to all immigrants from all countries of the European Union and beyond, and is not aimed at any particular country,” Mr Hague said.

"I know that you accepted office at a time that is difficult for Bulgaria and that the presence of strong leadership in the period preceding the elections in May will be crucial," the British Foreign Secretary’s letter also said.

"Your emphasis on free and democratic elections, economic stability and greater transparency in government activities, particularly in the energy sector, as well as the rule of law is vital and I wish you everything of the best in the coming months," William Hague said.
