Minister Nikolay Milkov held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central and Eastern Europe Robin Dunnigan. During the meeting, topical issues on the bilateral agenda were discussed, with an emphasis on enhanced cooperation in the field of energy security and the diversification of energy sources and routes, as well as active partnership in the field of security and defence and joint efforts to combat human trafficking. Bulgaria’s accession to the US Visa Waiver Program and the signing of a Social Security Agreement were highlighted as priorities for Bulgaria.
The two interlocutors reaffirmed the strategic nature of the bilateral relations conditioned by the intensive political dialogue and the expanding partnership in all areas of mutual interest. The firm commitment of both sides for further upward development of the Bulgaria-US Strategic Dialogue was shared.
