The Ministry of Foreign Affairs awarded the Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad

The Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad (ABSA) celebrated 15 years since its foundation. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Minister Teodora Genchovska, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova awarded the President of ABSA, Dr. Irina Boteva-Vladikova with a golden badge of honour of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and presented an honorary diploma to BNU Cyril and Methodius in Vienna. Special wishes were addressed to the teachers and students of the Bulgarian school. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support the activities of the Association and be a faithful partner in all its activities.

During the event, the president of ABSA, Dr. Irina Boteva-Vladikova, expressed special thanks to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Minister Teodora Genchovska for the good joint work.

Among those awarded with an honorary plaque of ABSA and certificates of appreciation were the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Ukraine Kostadin Kodzhabashev, our former consuls in Germany and Chicago - Stefan Dimitrov and Ivan Anchev, Daniela Sirakova - former First Secretary at the Bulgarian Embassy in Washington, Marin Raykov - the ambassador in Great Britain, as well as other representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Within the framework of the conference, a short film depicting the creation and history of ABSA was screened. The successes of the Association were reported, as well as its efforts to actively popularize and recognize the Bulgarian language around the world.

The Association of Bulgarian Schools Abroad was established on August 15, 2007. It supports the activities of Bulgarian schools and educational centres outside Bulgaria and promotes the Bulgarian language and culture.
