The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Irena Dimitrova, held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Kelly Ann Bourissi, Deputy Under Secretary at the US Department of Homeland Security.
The main emphasis within the discussion was placed on deepening the dialogue and activating cooperation with the USA in the process of Bulgaria's accession to the U.S. Visa Waiver Program. The Bulgarian side reaffirmed the priority importance of the issue both for the Bulgarian government and for the Bulgarian society as a whole.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of interaction and the progress made towards the fulfilment of the criteria for Bulgaria's inclusion in the Visa-Free Travel Program. The American side shared a high appreciation for the work of the competent Bulgarian institutions. The firm commitment of the parties to an active and consistent dialogue on this key issue in the coming years was confirmed.
