The 1st Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Member States of the Central European Initiative (CEI) took place in Sofia on 8 June 2022. The event was part of the calendar of the Bulgarian CEI Presidency in 2022, which has declared as one of its key priorities the development of the local dimension of CEI as a tool for shaping effective policies at local level that directly address citizens’ concerns, taking advantage of the opportunities of regional cooperation.
Discussions focused on finding lasting local solutions to provide clean energy in the context of the transition to zero carbon emissions. A number of good practices, successful projects and ideas were presented, on the basis of which the Presidency will prepare proposals that will be presented to the attention of the CEI Foreign Ministers in early November 2022.
