07 April 2022 News

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Estonia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vasil Georgiev opened an exhibition in the building of the European Commission in the Estonian capital, Tallinn, entitled "Bulgarian cities - antiquity that lives." The event was attended by ambassadors and representatives of the European Union member states, deputies from the Friendship Group Bulgaria-Estonia in the Estonian Riigikogu, the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Estonia and representatives of the Bulgarian community in the country.

During his visit to Tallinn, at the invitation of the Estonian side, the Deputy Minister also held political consultations at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Undersecretary for European Affairs Märt Volmer. Views were exchanged on current topics, including the EU agenda. The 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations is a good basis for more active cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, in particular within the EU, NATO, the UN and the OSCE.

The strengthening of economic relations is reflected in the growth of trade between the two countries in the last year. It is planned to organize a bilateral business forum between the structures of the Ministries of Economy of Estonia and Bulgaria. Opportunities for strengthening cooperation, including in the field of digital connectivity, information technology and communications, are being considered.
