The Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev held a telephone conversation with Yair Lapid, Alternative Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, expressing the readiness of the Bulgarian side to deepen bilateral relations on all issues of mutual interest.
Minister Stoev stressed the traditionally good bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Israel, which are an excellent basis for expanding relations between the two countries. Bulgaria's active position as a member of the European Union for intensifying cooperation within the EU-Israel was also highlighted. For his part, Minister Lapid reaffirmed his readiness to continue close bilateral cooperation and drew attention to the fact that Bulgaria is one of the few countries in the world with historical support for the Jewish community. In the course of the conversation, the developments in the Middle East peace process were also discussed. For Bulgaria, the only way to achieve a sustainable solution to the problem is through diplomacy by providing a political horizon for negotiations on the principle of two countries.
Minister Stoev used the occasion and congratulated Yair Lapid on the Jewish New Year, which occurred on 6th September 2021, wishing peace and prosperity. Yesterday, Minister Stoev held a meeting with the Ambassador of the State of Israel in Sofia Yoram Elron, at which a review of bilateral relations was made.
