Deputy Minister Zaritza Dinkova received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Khalid Ibrahim Emara. The two discussed a wide range of issues of the bilateral relations, the possibilities for holding the first meeting of the Joint Cooperation Commission. The steps for organizing a joint business forum were also agreed.
Deputy Minister Dinkova stressed that Egypt is the first Arab country with which Bulgaria establishes diplomatic relations and is Bulgaria's largest trade and economic partner in the Middle East and Africa. In the course of the conversation, the opportunities for deepening the bilateral relations in the fields of economy, energy, tourism, defence industry, and others were highlighted. The active political dialogue between the two countries over the last three years and the exchanged visits are a good basis for deepening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
Topics of discussion included co-operation between the two countries within international organizations, the successful modernization of Egypt's energy sector and opportunities for co-operation in the sector, both bilaterally and in the context of the EU's energy transformation. It was pointed out that the opening of the Sofia-Cairo-Sofia airline will improve the connectivity between the two countries, and Bulgaria Air is expected to announce a flight schedule soon.
