Minister Svetlan Stoev received the Ambassador of Sweden

13 July 2021 News

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Svetlan Stoev received the Ambassador of Sweden to Bulgaria based in Stockholm Katarina Rangnit.

The potential for development of relations between the two countries is great, said Minister Stoev, who was Bulgaria's ambassador to Sweden from 2012 to 2016 .

Bulgaria and Sweden have traditional relations based on friendship and mutual trust. Trade between the two countries in 2020 amounts to 431.6 million euros. Among the opportunities for development of bilateral relations is tourism, as Minister Stoev expressed hope to see more Swedish tourists on our Black Sea coast.

In the course of the conversation, the Ambassador of Sweden congratulated the Bulgarian Presidency of the Three Seas Initiative, which ended last week with a Summit in Sofia and a business forum.

"This was a successful presidency with very clear prospects for cooperation and connection between Northern and Southern Europe," said Minister Stoev, highlighting the inclusion of Greece in the Sofia Summit as a guest. According to him, Bulgaria believes that this should be the future format for infrastructure development in Southern Europe, so that it covers not three but four seas.

Minister Stoev assured Ambassador Rangnit that Bulgaria's priorities are related to the transition to green energy and growth, which the Swedish diplomat defined as an accent in his work in our bilateral relations.
