18 June 2021 News

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Zaritsa Dinkova and members of the team of the Deputy Prime Minister for European Funds Management Atanas Pekanov held a video conference on June 16, 2021 with heads of the General Secretariat for Economic Affairs and the G20 to the Prime Minister of Spain. The meeting, which was initiated by Deputy Minister Dinkova and the Ambassador of Spain to Bulgaria Alejandro Polanco Mata, provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experience, views and confirm the excellent level of cooperation between the two countries.

Among the main topics of discussion were the national recovery and sustainability plans. Julio Poyo-Guerrero, Deputy Director of the Sectoral Policies Directorate at the General Secretariat for Economic Affairs and the G20, presented the main elements of the Spanish plan and reviewed some of the projects included in it - electric cars, 5G network, transport infrastructure, of which 37% are for energy transition and 25% for digitisation. The meeting focused on the aspects in which Bulgaria is particularly interested - the need to implement more green policies and the costs of the energy transition, especially in less developed and more dependent on solid fuels regions
