Chairman of Mainz Municipal Utility Company Appointed Honorary Consul of Bulgaria

The Government decided to appoint Daniel Gahr as Honorary Consul of Bulgaria to Germany. He will operate out of Mainz and his consular district will cover the federal province of Rheinland-Pfalz.

Daniel Gahr is Chairman of the Board of the Mainzer Stadtwerke Gruppe. The company is the municipal electricity supplier and is also in the business of supplying natural gas, drinking water, street lighting, and public transport. Gahr is also Director of the Mainz Central Stock-Holding Company (ZBM Zentrale Beteligungsgesellschaft der Stadt Mainz).

The new Honorary Consul is married to a Bulgarian and has two children who speak Bulgarian. He is well known to the Bulgarian community in the region thanks to his active participation in various initiatives such as the Mainz Art Gallery, the city’s soccer club, and a foundation supporting children’s healthcare.
