Deputy Minister Lyutskanov Welcomed Participants in a Discussion on the UN and Multilateral Diplomacy

23 October 2020 News

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Milen Lyutskanov highlighted the role of the UN and multilateral diplomacy for global stability in an address to the participants of an event organised by the MFA on Multilateral Diplomacy in Action. About the UN in first person.

The discussion was on the occasion of the 75th Anniversary of the UN, the 65th Anniversary of Bulgaria’s membership in the global organisation and the United Nations Day (October 24).

„Our calling is to demonstrate on a daily basis that the UN is a complex and unique system where ideas generate and solutions materialise,“ Deputy Minister Lyutskanov said to the attendees of the event – university students, some of them volunteers with the youth section of the UN Association of Bulgaria.

Milen Lyutskanov greeted the new Bulgarian Youth Delegates to the UN with mandate 2020-2021 Kristiana Stoyanova and Todor Rogoshev as they join the endeavour to keep up the strong standing of Bulgarian diplomacy in the UN.

During the meeting, diplomats from the MFA presented to the young audience the negotiation process in the UN and the role of the UN in resolving local conflicts in Africa.

The discussion was organised by the Diplomatic Institute with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the support of the MFA and in partnership with the UN Association of Bulgaria. The event was part of the UN Week under the auspices of the Association.
