Ukraine’s Supreme Rada voted today on a decree setting up new districts in Ukraine.
“We note with gratitude to the Ukrainian authorities that the Bolgrad district has not only been preserved as a separate territorial unit, with its seat in the town of Bolgrad, but has also been expanded with the addition of the Tarutin and the Artsiz districts, which have large Bulgarian communities.” The new consolidated Bolgrad district will have 74 000 Bulgarian residents; the biggest Bulgarian community in Ukraine will thus be consolidated in one administrative unit consisting of 10 municipalities.
The vote on the decree was final and completed the formation of Ukraine’s districts.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva thanked her Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba, the Ukrainian government, Ukrainian lawmakers and President Volodymyr Zelensky for their support in upholding the rights of the Bulgarian community in Ukraine.
