Bulgaria and Ecuador Sign Visa Facilitation Agreement

09 June 2020 News

Bulgaria and Ecuador signed an agreement to waive visas for holders of diplomatic, service and official passports. The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev and Ecuadoran Ambassador Maria del Carmen Gonzalez Cabal.

This agreement is a positive step in the development of our bilateral relations,” Georg Georgiev said. This document will provide an impetus for to make our traditionally good political dialogue and the business contacts between Bulgaria and Ecuador more intensive. Ambassador Gonzalez Cabal said that her country was working to facilitate the travel of its nationals to Europe. The first step was made with the signing of a trade agreement with the EU in 2016. “It is difficult to do business when you do not know the other party,” she said.

The agreement between Bulgaria and Ecuador provides for holders of diplomatic, official and service passports to be exempt from the requirement for short-stay visas. They will thus be able to enter, exit, transit or stay on the territory of the other country for up to 90 days during a 180-day period. This agreement also serves to facilitate the broadening of the dialogue in the technical and scientific sphere in view of the shared vision on scientific research, technological advancement and innovations as the foundation for sustainable and dynamic economic growth.
