10 January 2019 News

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva received Lino Bianco, the Malta Ambassador, for a farewell meeting at the end of his tour of duty. Minister Zaharieva expressed her high appreciation of Ambassador Bianco’s efforts for promoting the bilateral relations.

‘We have excellent relations between the two countries. The Bulgarian community in Malta is very well received, and I thank you for your hospitality. Bulgarians feel very welcome there,’ said Minister Zaharieva. She went on to note that the two countries should continue to strive for promoting ties between the business communities and ordinary people, and for strengthening their cooperation in the sphere of tourism.

Ambassador Bianco underscored that such excellent relations are the result of the joint efforts of both parties. ‘We have realized many initiatives together, among them the opening of a Bulgarian Sunday school in Malta, and the celebrations of Sts. Cyril and Methodius,’ said Ambassador Bianco.   He gave thanks to Minister Zaharieva and Bulgaria for the joint efforts in promoting bilateral relations.

Ambassador Lino Blanco has held the position of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (non-resident) of the Republic of Malta since December 9, 2014. He is a scholar and lecturer in architectural history and philosophy. He holds a doctorate in ‘Architecture and Politics’ from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, with a thesis on the urban development of Sofia, and is a frequent visiting professor at that university.
