Romanian Foreign Minister attends reception marking March 3 in Bucharest

The traditional reception marking the National Day of Bulgaria took part at the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel in Bucharest on March 1. Attending the event hosted by the Bulgarian government were the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Teodor Meleșcanu, members of the diplomatic corps, the head of the EU Representation in Bucharest Angela Cristea and Adrian Năstase, the former Prime Minister of Romania. Also in attendance were Gabriela Crețu, the Chairperson of the Senate Commission for European Affairs, representatives of governmental institutions, non-governmental organizations, journalists, members of the historic Bulgarian community and the new Bulgarian diaspora in Romania. Everybody received a gift of a traditional Bulgarian martenitsa.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of Bulgaria and Romania. The guests were greeted with speeches by Teodor Meleșcanu and the Bulgarian Ambassador Todor Churov.
