Ekaterina Zaharieva conferred with her Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias

Within the framework of the Second Rhodes Conference for Security and Stability, the Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Kotzias.

During this first contact between the two, Minister Zaharieva assured Minister Kotzias of her desire to continue the excellent cooperation between Bulgaria and Greece. The two ministers reaffirmed the strategic nature of relations between Bulgaria and Greece and declared their will to see them deepen further in all areas.

Zaharieva and Kotzias agreed on the implementation of specific initiatives within the framework of the political dialogue, including at the highest level, as well as on continuing the exchange between working groups of the ministries of foreign affairs on issues such as the future of Europe, the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, migration, the situation in the Western Balkans, and regional security. The two ministers confirmed their support for the regional cooperation initiatives in Southeastern Europe and their readiness to work together for stability and security in the region, including within the EU, the Council of Europe, NATO, the OSCE and other international and regional initiatives and organisations.
