Strengthening NATO-EU cooperation tops agenda of NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting in Brussels

Minister Daniel Mitov participates in the regular Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs , which is taking place at the Alliance Headquarters in Brussels on 6 and 7 December 2016.

The program of the meeting includes four sessions and a working dinner.On the first day of their meeting, the Foreign Ministers focused on topics related to NATO’s cooperation with the EU and the progress of the stability building process in the regions neighbouring the Alliance from the East and the South, as well as in the Western Balkans.

Ministers also discussed the implementation of the decisions made at the NATO Summit in Warsaw. "Bulgaria, as a member of NATO and the EU would like to see more ambitious proposals for the implementation of the Warsaw Summit Declaration. At the same time we realize that the progress made is a significant step and it is all possible at this stage", said Minister Mitov during the work session. He emphasized the priority importance that our country attaches to the stability and security in the Western Balkans.

The NATO Foreign Ministers Meeting is the first after the Warsaw Summit in July and is a milestone in the review process for the decisions adopted by the Alliance in response to the strategic security challenges from the East and from the South.
