Deputy Minister Alexandrov held a meeting with German Bundestag delegation
23 June 2015 NewsDeputy Foreign Minister Rumen Alexandrov welcomed on 23 June a delegation from the German Bundestag Committee on the Affairs of the European Union. The German delegation was headed by Heinz-Joachim Barchmann (SPD), Vice-President of the Committee. The German MEPs Christian Petry (SPD) and Iris Ebert (CSU), members of the Committee, as well as the German Ambassador to Bulgaria Detlef Lingeman participated in the talks.
Deputy Minister Alexandrov presented to the guests the current political and economic situation in Bulgaria. They discussed the impact of the negotiations between Greece and the creditors on Bulgaria and Germany, the eurozone and the EU as a whole.
During the meeting they exchanged views on the situation in the Western Balkans and Turkey, focusing on the refugee problem and the debate regarding the Commission's proposal to introduce a quota system for the distribution of refugees.
High on the agenda of the talks was the European energy security and the diversification of energy sources. They discussed ways for strengthening the bilateral relations with the Federal Republic under the intergovernmental committees with the German federal states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
