Minister Daniel Mitov to open the exhibition "To be continued"
05 November 2014 Diplomatic CalendarMinister Daniel Mitov will open the exhibition "To be continued" at the Sofia City Art Gallery. The event will be held on 5 November at 6.00 pm. The exhibition is organized with the support of the State Institute for Culture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy of Bulgaria in Bern and the Sofia City Art Gallery.
The exhibition displays the collection of Gaudenz B. Ruf, Swiss patron of contemporary Bulgarian art recognized among the artistic circles in the country for his commitment and support for the youngest generation of artists. During his career as a diplomat and Ambassador of Switzerland to Bulgaria (1995-2000), he was actively involved in the organization of numerous exhibitions at the residence, as well as in the formation of a lasting and profound taste for native art.
Upon completion of his term, Gaudenz B. Ruf created the first award for art in Bulgaria of this kind, which is given by an independent international jury. It exists from 2007 to 2011and in this period a total of 560 candidates compete for it, 79 of whom are nominated for the award. From 2012, the support is focused on Bulgarian authors and events, presenting the contemporary Bulgarian art abroad.
