Deputy Minister Ivan Naydenov met Elżbieta Bieńkowska, Minister of Regional Development of Poland

19 July 2012 Diplomatic Calendar

We have, if not identical, then very similar negotiating positions on the EU’s next multiannual financial framework for 2014 to 2020 and should use this to our advantage, Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Naydenov said at a meeting with Elżbieta Bieńkowska, Minister of Regional Development of Poland, responsible for the management of EU funds.

At the meeting, there were in-depth discussions of individual elements of the proposed multiannual financial framework, regarding the planned reductions of national allocations, the mechanism linking Europe, and the proposal to grant compensation for the safe decommissioning of nuclear power stations in Bulgaria, Lithuania and Slovakia.

Minister Bieńkowska expressed concern about the timeframe for adoption of the next multiannual financial framework. It is important for this to happen by the end of this year, so that there can be better planning of national budgets.
