Information regarding strikes in Greece

The Panhellenic Federation of Maritime Transport has decided to hold a 24-hour general strike on April 3 2013 in protest against the imminent reform of the sector. It is expected that all ships will remain at anchor. There will be strike action in solidarity by civil servants att he Ministry of Shipping and the Aegean Sea, and from 12pm to 5pm the strike will include employees of ports.

Union organisations of civil aviation employees in Greece said that there would be a 24-hour strike from Thursday April 4 2013 at 5am to April 5 2013 at 5am.

Trade unionists at the railway federation and the suburban railway in Athens will hold an eight-hour chain strike (from 4pm to midnight) in the period from April 3 to 5 2013. Changes in the routes of subway and suburban trains are expected. Currently in Greece, it is not uncommon for there to be changes to the announced strike actions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Bulgarian citizens, before travelling, to update themselves on the current transport situation and to follow the recommendations of the relevant authorities.
