Advice to Bulgarians travelling to Egypt

22 November 2011

Given the complicated political situation in Egypt in recent days, the Embassy of Bulgaria in Cairo recommends that Bulgarian citizens intending to travel to Egypt and those already in the country avoid Tahrir Square and areas around it in the centre of the Egyptian capital.

We also recommend that people exercise caution in their movements in Cairo and other cities of the country, including in Upper Egypt, and avoid areas where there are gatherings of large numbers of people.

This advisory remains in effect until the completion of the elections for parliament and the Shura Council, ie until the beginning of March 2012.

At present the situation in the Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada resorts is normal. We have no evidence of mass gatherings, but remind that many airlines have cancelled their flights to Egypt.
