Meeting of Minister Daniel Mitov and the Ambassador of Algeria

Minister Daniel Mitov held a meeting today with  the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria in Sofia, Ahmed Boutache, on the occasion of his final departure from the country. Minister Mitov welcomed the excellent state of political dialogue between Bulgaria and Algeria and expressed hope that soon there will be strengthening of the economic ties between the two countries.

The Bulgarian top diplomat confirmed the invitation sent to the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelaziz Bouteflika to visit our country, which undoubtedly would give a decisive impetus to the Bulgarian-Algerian political and economic relations in the long run. Minister Mitov expressed hope that the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramtane Lamamra will soon visit our country.

Daniel Mitov also emphasized the need for strengthening and deepening the bilateral dialogue in the field of prevention and fight against terrorism, noting the positive cooperation between the anti-terrorism departments of the two countries.

Ambassador Boutache thanked the Foreign Minister and the Foreign Ministry for the excellent cooperation and underscored the good historical Bulgarian-Algerian political ties. He said that it is necessary to renew the practice of holding political consultations between the two foreign ministries. In terms of economic cooperation, he expressed hope that Bulgarian business will be more active on the Algerian market, which has great potential for realization of Bulgarian production.

On the occasion of his departure from the country, Minister Daniel Mitov awarded Ambassador Ahmed Boutache with the honorary plaque of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.
