Bulgaria provides humanitarian aid for Afghanistan landslide victims

The ceremony of providing humanitarian aid from the Republic of Bulgaria to the population of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan took place on 3 September on the territory of the Kandahar airfield. The aid was granted with a decree of the Council of Ministers as of 11 June 2014 in relation to the tragic incident of 2 May 2014 in the Badakhshan province.

Thehumanitarian  aid was delivered to the Afghan authorities by the military andair attache of the Republic of Bulgaria Colonel Krasimir Krastev, as a representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Kabul. The ceremony was attended by the commander of the Bulgarian military contingent as part of the operation of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) in Kandahar Colonel Nikola Mitev and soldiers of the contingent.

The aid wasreceived by Abdullah Abdali, representative of the provincial office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of IR Afghanistan in Kandahar.

The humanitarian aidis worth 32 800 Levs and includes 50 tents provided by the Fire Safety and Protection of Population General Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, and 200 blankets provided by the Bulgarian Red Cross. On 14 June  the aid was transported to the city of Kandahar with the assistance of the Joint Forces Command of the Bulgarian Army and the Ministry of Defence. The provision of humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was organized with the active participation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
